About CountrySite

CountrySite was developed to complement the Internet Awareness Project which was organised by the Southern Province Projects Group (SPPG) and conducted by NetFX Internet in 1999/2000.  The project was to provide a series of two-day hands-on Internet Awareness Raising workshops in 41 rural and remote towns in the southern half of Western Australia.

The workshops were designed to demonstrate the benefits and opportunities provided by the Internet for country people.  The directors of NetFX, Terry and Angela Lewis, created CountrySite as both a training aid for the workshops and as ongoing support for those attending the workshops.

Funding for the SPPG project was provided by the Federal Department of Communication and the Arts through the Networking the Nation program.  The Western Australian Telecentre Support Unit within the WA Department of Commerce and Trade were key partners in the project and Wesfarmers-Landmark was a major sponsor.

NetFX have moved on and conducted many more Roadshows and workshops since the original ones for the SPPG and have continued to maintain this website for the many hundreds of people continuing to use it on a regular basis. (almost 36000 hits as at Feb 17 2001 and more than 111000 by August 2002).  The South West Development Commission has also supported CountrySite throughout NetFX's contract as IT Advisors

Details of NetFX's other exploits and Awards they have received can be found here, and pictorial diaries can be found at 1999 and 2000

The workshops and this website are provided by NetFX Internet.
