The Roadshow was launched at the Fortescue Festival in Newman on 19 August 2001.

Introductions were conducted by the East Pilbara Shire President Alan Cochrane and the skills.net Roadshow was officially launched by David Daines Manager, Ore Processing on behalf of BHP Billiton

During the course of the day many people took advantage of the "Trainer Wheels" trailer to learn more about the Internet.
